Invisalign
the Clear Alternative to Conventional Dental Braces
For those preferring a less noticeable option for straightening teeth, Invisalign is highly favored at Dr. Kim’s dental office. It offers discreet teeth alignment, catering to the demand for a straighter smile without traditional braces.
Invisalign offers unparalleled freedom compared to traditional metal braces. These clear, removable aligners fit seamlessly into daily life—they’re easy to insert, remove, and nearly invisible. With smooth edges that minimize gum and cheek irritation, Invisalign surpasses fixed metal braces by providing better access for brushing and flossing, thereby reducing the risk of tooth decay and gum inflammation. While they can be removed as needed, wearing Invisalign for at least 22 hours daily is recommended for optimal results. Each aligner is custom-programmed to gently shift teeth with precise movements, ensuring the best possible outcome.
Digitally Scanning for Invisalign Treatment
Dr. Kim utilizes advanced 3D intra-oral scanning technology, specifically the iTero Element Scanner, to digitally model your teeth with unparalleled precision. These digital models enable precise planning of tooth movements to craft your custom aligners. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks, gently shifting your teeth towards their ideal alignment, often in a timeframe comparable to traditional braces.
This scanning procedure is painless and non-invasive. Using simulation technology, both Dr. Kim and you can visualize the treatment outcome before commencing, ensuring confidence in your orthodontic journey.
Solving a Host of Teeth Misalignment Problems
With Dr. Kim’s expertise, Invisalign effectively corrects various issues caused by teeth misalignment.
Open Bite – An open bite occurs when the upper and lower teeth don’t meet. This can affect chewing and biting, causing difficulty with food and potential uneven wear on touching teeth.
Spacing Between Teeth – While spaced teeth are easier to clean, they can affect the smile’s appearance negatively. Additionally, the exposed gum tissue between these teeth may experience minor irritation, potentially causing discomfort.
Deep Overbite – This occurs when the upper front teeth excessively overlap the lower front teeth. While a slight overlap is normal, too much can lead to problems such as premature tooth wear, enamel loss, irritation of the roof of the mouth, and even TMJ discomfort.
Underbite – An underbite occurs when the lower jaw extends too far forward, or the upper jaw does not grow sufficiently forward. This condition can make biting into food difficult and place excessive pressure on teeth not suited to bear such loads.
Crossbites – Occur when the front or back teeth don’t align properly. In severe cases, individuals may adjust their lower jaw when swallowing to compensate, leading to asymmetry over time. This can make one side of the lower jaw longer than the other. Correcting crossbites improves bite foundation, aligning the jaws for long-term stability and oral health.
Crowded Teeth – Crowded teeth are a common alignment issue treated by dentists. This problem can lead to uneven tooth wear, increased gum inflammation, irregular tooth and jaw alignment, and greater plaque and tartar buildup.
